Vokera Compact 28 works for a while then makes hissing sound

i will change both the ntc tomorrow and see if that fixes it.i will also check the hoses for any blockages. can you tell me what the eventual outcome was on the "bad Boy" you encountered.

Thanks for your input too kev any other thoughts

Kev

going back to that diverter valve thing the boiler is not a SE so could it be that ? when a check hoses and change ntc's i will inspect that, will post my results tomorrow.

works of a flow switch.. im over the U.S in june see the girlfriend she just went back today :( whats the work like over there im thinking of shifting. anyways just try the heating ntc u know how to change them?

morning bellairaphon

i have found a place in leeds who have the ntc's - £8.00 a piece im gonna pick em up and give it a go........as far as changing them i have a manual and it seems straight forward enough...isolate flow and return under boiler drain off water through safety valve, disconnect ntc unscrew with 13mm spanner replace........will post how it goes

Hello

Well 2 Ntc's fitted still same problem what course of action would you
recommend now ?????? :?:

Its odd that this fault seemed to start after you drained the system however all the evidence seems to point to a lack of temperature control.

If the two NTCs are OK then that would point to a wiring or PCB fault or a sticking on gas valve or just possibly a wrongly set gas valve.

My advice would be to call a competent boiler engineer or take out a fixed price repair with BG or similar.

These are not the easiest of boilers to fault find on because they are designed to be as simple as possible with only a single red light to indicate any of about five different faults.

hello anyone who is watching this thread

heating has been on this afternoon on the lowest temp setting and i did notice the pump was rather hot in fact so hot i couldnt keep my hand on it does anyone think the pump might be faltering and that this could be my problem.......thinking of taking the pump head off this weekend and seeing if theres any crap in it, will also check all the pipes leading to pump .........not ready to throw the towel in yet Tony but i take your point and realise that is what i might end up doing.

you say all this happened after draining down & re filling.

my thoughts are this.

is boiler and system totally vented (AAV working ok and could you slacken off,but not remove NTC thermistor to make sure theres no trapped air in heat ex)
is pump running ok (remove cover on pump, fully vent, check shaft rotates, replace cover)

after ruling out air in boiler/pump, i would remove pump from boiler and check impellor is totally clean( no bits of crud or debris in impellor water ways)

if all this happened after draining & refilling you may have dislodged crud somewhere in system and its got back into boiller/pump/heat ex.

to add to my post, the reason im suggesting pump head removal and cleaning is had very similar problem with a Clyde ck80 boiler, giving codes A3,A5.
flushed heat ex, still same problem
removed pump head, impellor waterways full of welders snotters and crud, picked clean with small screwdriver back to being perfect again!

best of luck brother

hi glasgowgas

thanks for your post Come the weekend i will try slackening the ntc off see if any air comes out, pump is definatley running all my rads get warm within say 5 - 10 mins, I presume the AAV is working i can hear the air been expelled when topping system back up..........your post has given me renewed hope of solving this :) i will let you know how i get on, back to work tomorrow

is pump running ok (remove cover on pump, fully vent, check shaft rotates, replace cover)

did you do the above

to quote David Brent "assume:makes an ass of u & me"

been quite a few posts where people have said yes pumps ok because rads are heating then 4 posts down the line they tell you their engineer replaced pump and it all works ok!!!!!!!

have fitted in excess of 150 compacts ( still do ) very few major problems
best of luck
