Vokera Compact 28 works for a while then makes hissing sound

Its possible the pump is faulty but not very likely but does no harm to do the "finger test". See the FAQ on this site for details.

They do run hot but if its jammed it gets even hotter. Even under normal conditions they are too hot to touch.

Well gotta say a big thank you to everyone who contributed on this post, have had the boiler running in the auto postion on the temperature dial for the past 2 hours and all seems good, no noises, no locking out ......really warm in our house right now

Well took the pump off and all pipes connected to it, pump was clean as a whistle and running free, the problem seems to be that the 2 large hoses coming from the heat exchanger were blocked with lots of rust deposits the longer of the 2 hoses was the worst, i cleaned said hoses and put all back together now working a treat. Great tip Glasgowgas unscrewing the ntc to expel the air in heat exchanger. Thanks to Bellairaphon for the offer of the pump......i know im rambling on a bit but a thank you doesn't cost any thing.

Thanks To All

Regards
Alan :D
