Car was working fine until yesterday. On the return leg of a 35 mile round trip there was a sudden loss of power and speed.

Now car starts fine and seems to be ok but after a couple of minutes the ignition warning light comes on and the power drops. The immobiliser warning light does not come on at any time.

Going uphill the speed drops to around 5mph and on the flat it very gradually gets up to a max of 30 mph. The fuel pump fuse is fine.

Any ideas anyone?

I think your best bet is a fault code and component readout done by a local garage or auto electrician. You could try changing the coolant temperature sensor first. It's located to the left of the injectors.

;)

Thanks for that. I've now had diagnosis done and there were four faults on initial readout of which one (the most serious and most expensive of course) re-occurred after the computer was reset.

It appears that the Throttle Valve Potentiometer will need replacing - so a few bucks to be spent there.

Thanks again for your help.
