Rusted in and socket is simply slipping on the 8mm heads.

Anyone got any secrets for getting such bolts out?

Weld another nut on, any nut. The heat will help it turn and you'll have a new head.

Thanks. One for the list of considerations.

As the bolts are M5.5 with 8mm shanks, may try drilling them out then nut and bolt fixings.

Maybe are M6 but if I drill them out, its nut and bolt rather than tap which I don't have.

Job done!

Ground the heads off, centre marked the shanks and drilled through with 5mm bit.
Will get some M5 bolts. Already have nuts and washers.
Will grease up the back plates to impede rust.

Has anyone changed the font disc back plates on a Bora?

The new ones match the old but when held in place, there's a gap at the front. Strange!
