VW Transporter blower dying out

Hi, I have a VW Transporter Van (08). In the last few days every time I turn on the heater/blower, it runs for about 2/3 minutes then slowly dies out. When it dies, I turn it off for 5/10 minutes then when I turn it back on it repeats the procedure, on for a few minutes then dies. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Sounds like it's overheating, do you have digital type climate control or standard turny knob type things!

Just a normal turn the knob arrangement. What might cause it to overheat?

I guess it could be the variable speed resistor breaking down (although I would have thought that the blower would work on its fastest speed) - failing that, maybe the bearings at the end of the blower motor shaft are getting dry.

You will need to remove it and take a good look, it should spin freely by hand.
Also examine the brushes and commutator they run on, everything may just need a good clean out.
