We've just got our taps (http://www.crosswater.co.uk/product/essence/essence-basin-2-hole-set/), but the installation instructions are a bit thin.

After mounting plumbing into the wall, it just says to screw the spout into it using a monkey wrench. The problem is that I can just screw it in with my hands, so there is no way that it will be water tight and there is no seal in it.

Am I supposed to wrap some thread sealing tape around the thread of the spout before screwing it in, or am I really missing something?

Sorry I don't have pictures of the installation instructions - I can post them later if needed.

OK, some photo:

The tap - the spot needs to screw into the body (body rotated 90° so that you can see down into the thread). This is where I can do it with my hands easily so won't form a seal as it is.

Here are the instructions:

The relevant parts are "Screw the joint (4) of the spout (7) to the body outlet (1) with a monkey wrench".

What do I need to do to make sure that the joint forms a seal with the body?

Many thanks.
