Mounting tv to a solid brick, unused, closed off chimney breast.
Electricians have put a double socket below and to the left of the wall mounted tv bracket. Upon looking at the brackets that screw to the back of the tv I'm unsure if the socket will be in the way and won't allow the tv to sit flush. We haven't bought the tv yet so I'm not sure if we will get away with the spacing of the brackets on the back of it. I was away when the electricians fitted it and I did say I wanted the socket above or at least centre of the bracket (why they did it this way I've no idea as it wasn't too far for the extra chase required).

Anyway, I realise I've 2 or 3 options (4 if I get the guys back to move it ;) ) :

1 Buy a deeper profile bracket that will clear the sockets

2 Get some 12mm ply and cut to the same width as the back of the bracket and use this as a spacer, also buying longer screws obviously. I think I prefer this option as I have some ply knocking about. Would I need to plug this ply as, in reality, the 4 screws (or 6 even) would be holding it and the bracket to the wall anyway.

3 or I could buy a flush fit socket face, as the one fitted has a few mm profile (would need to pay someone to connect it up though).

Thoughts and advice please

Thanks

The wall bracket you have may not fit tv , they fit specific size range of tv, though never come across one so close fitting as to not have room behind for a socket .The brackets come with spacers to adjust how far off the wall tv sits.
What tv bracket do you have ?

Vohnhaus slim bracket for 37- 85 " t.v. It's not the bracket's fault, it's because the plug socket has been placed offset and aligns right where the 200 x 200 VESA brackets fit on the back of the t.v,, hence the bracket locking (long) screws won't fit under the bottom lip because the socket doesn't allow the tv to sit flush (40 " tv btw) I know what you mean about the spacers but that only moves the tv slightly away and not the tv fixings from the actual wall bracket.
Hope that makes sense.
My idea is to use ply as a spacer (between the actual wall and the tv bracket) so I don't have to buy a more (thicker) bracket and drill more holes. If the socket had been centred or way over to one side then there wouldn't be an issue.
Thanks for the reply.
