Hi,

our garage construction is 7.3NM blocks outside, 100mm cavity and thermalites on the inside. Low (its 10 to 13 degrees) bitumen tile roof.

Does it matter whether the roof plate is attached/sits on the inner or outer skin ? It will be clad so ties not visible.

Also do you 'need' cavity covers. We have them for around the door but I don't know if its necessary at the top of the wall as the roof overhangs and becuase its low angle I need to double up the felt.

the image gives an idea of what we are doing, the RHS garage bit is cavity block and then will be clad so it will look like this below but be solid.

Normally on inner skin. Mounting it on the outer will reduce your pitch even further.
Cavity trays are to direct any water into the gutters if the felt gets damaged as often happens with it flapping in the wind where it hangs over the facia boards.

One of the obvious pitfalls of situating the WP on the outer course is the visibility of the holding down straps. If you are rendering, then they will likely become hidden. I'm guessing any openings below the load area are adequately lintelled over?

yes thats true, the pitch is low already.
with the damaged felt problem that can occur in the future I came across a product that goes on first (bottom of roof working up), like a plastic tray, its called an eaves guard. Something I also plan to retro fit on my problematic flat gulley roof.
Link if anyone is interested
Thank you as always for the replies, greatly appreciated :-)
