Hi all

Just built a single skin concrete shed which will have a flat roof on it. Does the wall plate need to be 4x2 or 4x3? It will have 6x2 c24 joists on it.

Thanks in advance

Wall plates are better at 4x3 - more meat at the overlaps at corners, and less tendency to split when nailing the joists down.

Flat roofs don't have wall plates.
What do they have? I just assumed it was similar to a pitched roof. My ‘flat’ roof has a 2deg pitch and was thinking of attached wall plates and then birdsmouthing the joists over these

Oh right. Looks like I’m doing the unconventional way, but guessing it will still work. I didn’t create it flat and use firings strips either as facia board becomes too deep.
