Do I need to use vertical damp proof course when using wall starter kit? All the pictures I see suggest that it is not used. What is the building reg on this? thanks kev
I was in a similar position today. There are about 5 different answers floating around.
Nothing, as per what you've seen.
Vertical DPC behind starter brackets
Cut through wall between new skins and insert DPC.
Cut wall to depth of 30mm between skins
Cut through wall twice and remove a full 4" chunk of brick.
A vDPC is to stop the travel of damp sideways into the room. Trace the route moisture will take into the new room, and put the vDPC in a place to stop this.
Why would a DPC be needed behind wall starters, what will it achieve?
