Is it a matching pattern paper?

Is it a bay/bow window, or an ordinary one?

Does the window have a 'return' on it?

Does one side of the window have a 'larger' area of wall than the other side?

You wouldn't usually start in the middle. Though if you have a large pattern you want to centralise you may mark the centre point, and measure across to where you would hang the first length.

Your first length of paper would ideally be a full length one, to one side of the window. You would normally draw a plumbline/spirit level line on the wall to ensure all paper is level. If there is more wall area on one side of the window, this is the best place to start.
