Washing machine and silt

I had an issue 6 months back where washing machine was very slow to fill, I checked the fill hose and the filter on it and there’s was a brown gritty like sludge, cleared that all out and despite there being a filter at both ends of the fill hose ie where the water comes in to house and where washing machine fills I can tell it’s getting blocked again as washing machine is again slow to fill. Never had this problem previously and no issues with quality of water out the taps so I’m not sure what’s causing it? It’s a bit of effort if every six months I have to disconnect washing machine to clear the sludge but I’m stumped as to what’s causing it in the first place, any suggestions?

What is your supply pipe made of? Possibly corrosion debris comes to mind. Assuming Neighbours aren't having any issues with sediment in the water?

I replaced an old water supply pipe to an Edwardian house. It was lead, and the water pipes inside the house were a mixture of lead and iron. Later, the washing machine started spilling water when out of use. It turned out to be because rust and limescale particles, disturbed during the work, had got into the electrically operated fill valves. It was actually fairly easy to clean out, but by the time I saw it a new pair of valves had been fitted.

You could try flushing the pipes by disconnecting the fill hose from the machine, and gushing it at maximum flow. There may be sediment lying at the bottom of a pipe.
