Hi, hope someone can help. I'm trying to add a kitchen style sink with garbage disposal where a laundry sink used to be. There is a washing machine nearby that used to empty into the sink, but now I need to reroute the drainage directly into the drain line (currenly 1.5" pvc). I thought that moving the washer drainage hose into one of those wall-mounted washer supply/waste boxes would be fine, but the drainage pipe overflows, and water also backs up into the new sink. I guess the system can't handle the washer's volume all at once, although I was under the impression that a 1.5" pipe was sufficient under normal circumstances. Any suggestions?
The new configuration is as follows:
The washing machine empties into the wall-mounted 1.5" drain, about 3.5ft off the floor. That line goes down 2ft, makes a 90deg turn, is joined at a 'Y' by the drain from the new sink/disposal, and continues to the main drainage line for the house.
