Hotpoint washing machine model wma 33 - water leak which I suspect is a leaking door seal. Has anyone any experience of changing a door seal on such a machine or is it a specialist job.

Thanks

When I did mine a few years ago I think you prise the rubber seal off the front then removed the top then undo the big jubilee clip inside that holding it,not sure if all washing machine are the same.

Is the door glass clean, free from hard scale etc, that can also make the door leak as it not seal properly.

Thanks for your response. The door looks preety clean but I will check it anyway. The seal clips over a couple of ridges and has a wire band which secures it in place.

The door hinge on my Hotpoint WM63 broke the other week. When I replaced it I noticed that I could get the door slightly better aligned than previously and tightened the hinge block up accordingly. Amazingly the leak that used to appear occasionally under light loads has stopped.

The bearings sound as though they're going now. :x

you MUST UNPLUG the m/c, remove small clip holding retaining wire, remove wire, take the top off, soap drawer out front off, lean front to right, remove band holding seal, fit new seal RIGHT WAY UP (two holes at the bottom) fit band sa previous in reverse, put 3 drops wahing up liquid on front retaining wire, rub this along wire, if you dont wire will not go on, fit wire, reseal clip all done
