I haven't wired a kitchen in years, reading the new regs am i to believe that for every under counter power point i have now to wire it back to an isolating switch fuse unit mounted 150 mm above the counter,is this written in stone.

I believe the key is you must be able to isolate it without first removing it, which you can do if you put a socket in the adjacent unit.

What you described is better but not essential if impractical, as I understand it.

in my apartment the fridge washer and tumble are all next to each other, they are wired with a socket behind each appliance. The new regs would need for these sockets to be able to be isolated without removing the appliances.I couldn't wire a socket in the next cupboard in this instance.
