WATER HELL !! HELP

I have moved out of Wales back to Wiltshire were the water is so hard, unfortunately I am having really bad skin reactions from it and desperately looking for a solution. I have been told you can add a water softener to your water supply or shower can you please advise me on the best way of making the water softer? I have looked on the internet but so many out there I don’t know which ones would be best. Can anyone recommend one they are using that they like or any they have heard good reviews on?

Base ion exchange water softener. Water passes over resin in a pressure vessel, the resin is regularly regenerated by salt stored in a tank. Harvey ones are good, allegedly (no personal experience). There are dozens of companies making them. Search the archives, there are acres of information.

DO NOT get an electronic or magnetic 'water softener' or water conditioner. They don't soften the water. The affect, if any, is marginal and won't alleviate your problem.
