We've recently moved house and I've just plumbed our old washing machine in and when we used it water poured out of the front soap powder drawer and all over the floor.

We turned it off quickly, it never did this in our old house and I've checked the trap is clear.

Any help would be great.

Powder drawer could be bunged up with powder residue that has moved due to moving the machine?

Take the drawer out and clean all the residue out and any other carp in there.

When we puchased a new washer, ours did exactly the same.

(cost us a new carpet).

Almost all washers are filled via the soap drawer.

The solenoid which controls the flow of water sometimes will not cope with very high pressure / flow water. (Are the taps in your new house flowing much faster than your old house?)

I fitted an in-line gate valve and turned down the flow speed to the washer. This gives the solenoid more time to do its job. Sometimes, washers come with a restrictor plate to fit into the inlet pipe for this exact problem.

Thank you very much, the pressure is very high here, we turned the washing machine isolators down (screw type) and it cured the problem!
