New door was fitted, and appropriately varnished by the fitter.

However a few years down, water is seeping in and damaging carpet. Any suggestions? I seem to think the water seeps through the panel part where the varnish has worn a little, but I have since attempted to varnish myself, but perhaps cracks or gaps have appeared...

Help is appreciated.

Looks like someone has altered the drip bar at the bottom of the door, maybe that might be part of the problem,

If its coming through the panels you would see water on the inside of the door, check door seal, door may have warped.

You can run some clear CT1 around the panels and weatherstrip.

Don't use silicone, you wont be able to varnish over it.

Is there a threshold strip to prevent the water running under the door?
