My question is regarding the plastic supply pipe , it is 1/4" O.D is it possible to get fittings for this pipe ? as i need to work from 15mm and also would like to install isolation valve. Many thanks .

The adaptors are normally supplied with the kit, ring the supplier and ask them.

Thanks billy bob , but i would still like to know if and where you can get 1/4" O.D fittings for plastic cheers

Take the pipe to a plumbers merchant who should have reducer to fit it into a compression tee. :D

plumb centre stock all the parts or anyone that stocks water softners.
they are made by john guest.
you'll need a 3/4 to 1/4 adaptor that fits onto a washing machine valve.
and the proper tubig is 1/4 lldpe tubing.

Thanks Seco i will try plumb centre as i still have had no luck , i have tried pts, refridgeration companies , appliance spares, you name it , legris as far as i can see dont do 1/4" o.d fittings for water , i am aware of john guest fittings so if they do have this size i have cracked it cheers .

Do it all , i must say i didnt look as hard as i could 0n the legris site , but just for information John guest do the fittings and the guy i spoke to said they have know brought out a Tee with 15 mm ends and 1/4" branch with built in isolation and NRV perfect for fridges , cheers

ChrisR i obviously am not good at finding things , i know had a look on bes site and cant see 1/4" fittings , can you tell me which catagory , cheers sorry just read the rest of your post , definately 1/4" od its written all over the pipe .

Er - I gave you the page and the part number!! It would have a 1/4" male bsp thread the other end from the compression pipe fitting.

ChrisrR i see it is a compression fitting , can you use these on 1/4 plastic pipe , i thought it might crush it .

If it's the 1/4 plastic I've used, it's quite hard? Those fittings come with copper olives which are pretty soft, and don't need much tightening. I'd put a couple of turns of ptfe tape round the olive. It won't leak, I promise!

You could buy a couple of spare olives from them, which will guarantee you won't need any... :P
