I need to put a small amount of concrete down around a shower tray and make sure no water penetrates it. Is there anything I can add to concrete to make it completely waterproof? The reason for doing it is that a number of times the tiles around the tray have let in water and its gone down through to the floor and rotted the floor. One side has been concreted many years ago before we moved in and is fine.

Im guessing that he actually means mortar, not sure how concreting around a shower base is going to work, unless there's some kin big gaps to fill.

I meant a mix of sand cement and gravel. I want to make sure the f***ing thing never moves and is water proof. :-)

So what sort of mix should I use if you suggest that all i need is more cement?

there was an element of tongue in cheek about our responses.

6 parts ballast to 1 cement is an adequate mix.
make sure the surfaces to which the concrete is to be applied are pre-wetted.

don't allow the concrete to cure too quickly.
