Read a lot on here about sealing external brickwork with waterproof stuff (the clear brick sealant stuff)
As I understand it, the general consensus is that it external brickwork shouldn't be sealed or painted as it prevents the brick from breathing and, if there is still damp in the bricks, there will be nowhere for it to escape.
I understand that from the point of view of a single brick wall but may I please ask if the same goes for a cavity wall.
In short, if you have a double skin of brickwork with a cavity wall in between is it okay to seal the exterior brickwork with the stuff?
