If its an auto defrost one, water passes through a hole in the back, usually just above the salad drawer, and down a tube to a tray which is on top of the warm compressor - therefore evapourating the distillate off.
If this tube is blocked, the fridge leaks from the inside.
If the tray is full of rubbish, the fridge can leak from the outside.
