What Adhesive? Ceramic floor tiles on 12mm ply.

Hello

Can someone give me some advice on choosing the proper adhesive? I've screwed down 12mm ply onto existing floorboards and am about to start tiling now.

I've heard about flexible adhesives and grouts - any comments?

Also, does the plywood need to be primed?

Yes you must use flexi adhesive & grout, priming is usually not needed but check to see what it says on the bag as some makes will need priming.

I tend to use BAL Rapidset Flexible or BAL Motobond with either BAL superflex widejoint grout or Mapei Ultracolour Plus grout.

what area would a 20kg bag cover when tiling on ply?

Hard to say for sure. Depends how deep your bed of adhesive is and how "stiff" you make the mix. Believe me you allways use more than you think!

At an estimate a 20 kg of Bal Rapid set flexible will do 4-5 square meters
