If you don't even know something like that, how are you going to manage with something like this:

?

I know some stuff
But nowhere near enough stuff.

The thing is, wiring a new build, installing new CUs, submains etc is not a trivial job, and I can assure you that it involves knowing far more than you think it does.

Asking questions here can be a useful part of a learning process, but they are not a substitute for proper structured studying. The key term there is "learning process" - you cannot learn all the things you need to know just by asking questions here. It isn't structured enough - it won't provide you with a way to progress where each step builds on what you learned before.

You can't carry out a job of this magnitude by asking whatever random questions happen to occur to you. You've already shown that you have some dodgy misconceptions - what if you get something wrong because you have no idea your knowledge is wrong? What if you miss something because you simply have no idea it even exists, and just don't realise you don't know it?

where in the WM are you?
I'm available this weekend to give you a quote if you're close :)

Of course he would. As soon as he'd got the job he could turn his phone off and go on an extended holiday.

I mentioned here that I will do all the wiring then show the qualified electrician then I will get the certificate!!!

As already stated you need speak to your qualified electrician. He may not be willing to sign off anybodys work other than his own.

You should also read the guidenace in the approved document for PART p of the building regulations http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/uploads/br/BR_PDF_ADP_2006.pdf

From this you will see what is required to comply with the building regs and you will realise that your qualfied electrician cannot simply sign off your work.

I don't think he's a troll.

But I do think that having not received the advice he believed he should he's gone away.

I'm willing to if He wants..
won't be a free consult though, it's a free quote if it's close but I'm not going to give him all the info he wants to do the job himself..
I am however willing to provide drawings with locations and sizes of cabling if he wants to do the gruntwork on the understanding that I do the second fix and inspect the work before the plasterers get at it..
