What are they called

I have a wooden storage box which needs a new handle.

It consists of a leather covered length of spring steel which wants to lie flat, end caps hold it in place and contain enough slack for it to lift up and be used as a handle.

I'm sure I could have described it better, but if you've ever come across them you'll know what I mean, and hopefully know what they are called so I can start searching for one....
