We had a brick built boiler flue in our house. A sixties semi. I think originally there must have been a coal fired boiler as the inside was lined with tar/soot. It must have then been changed for a gas boiler. When I remodelled the kitchen, I removed the section in the kitchen along with the asbestos flue liner. I also removed the section in the loft along with the small chimney stack on the roof and tiled over the home. I just have the middle section 'hanging' on my upstairs landing and it’s been used to get power up to the loft as well as gas and boiler flow and return pipes when we fitted a new boiler and sited it in the loft. I’m assuming it is well tied in as it hasn’t shifted in 30+ years!
