What do I use to seal the outside of my aluminum windows to

Hi, I would like to know what sealant to use to seal my aluminum windows to the brickwork outside. It is sealed with a red gritty putty sort of stuff, but this is all pealing off.

Can I use any outdoor sealant or is there a special sealant I must use.

Use a 'low modulous' silicone based sealant.

Don't use an acrylic based mastic, as it will crack in time

Does anyone know what the red gritty putty sort of stuff is. I was told it was called "red sanders" but I have never heard of that.
