What do you think? New boiler required

The seller lists it as new but the description tells you it's "refurbished".
This dishonesty is now common on ebay (along with society in general).
Only buy brand new in box where you can clearly see the part no. etc.
There are 2 types of hex fitted to this boiler depending on the condensate outlet.
It is NOT a diy job as the gas train is involved.
Genuine new old stock is much more expensive than a decade ago..as manufacturers have raised their prices so to have ebayers.
If you've found an installer willing to do the job ask him to confirm the hex you need...a picture under the boiler of the plastic condensate trap will confirm which one req.

there was a website specializing in recon and new old boiler parts but i can't remember the name to suggest it. My old boiler has about 5 parts to it and some pipes. As it gets older the parts get cheaper as long as available somewhere. I'd expect its true that a lot of boilers are more economical to repair than installers will say. New boilers considered disposable the day the guarantee runs out so basically leasing them now.

That seems to be the case. So many people just take the word of the service engineer that attends as they know people will generally pay up and nobody wants to take a chance with gas. There is the throwaway culture which combined with greed means many boilers are consigned to the rubbish when they could last longer for not a lot of money.
