What Fixers Should I Use For Loose Dot & Dab?

Hi there! :)

Im currently redecorating a bedroom and it has come to my attention that the dot & dab is loose from the wall in a few places. I have also removed the skirting board because some clown in the past hadn't put it back on straight.

It is a solid brick wall, so the masonry nails I previously used on a breeze block wall are not taking. What kind of fixers would you recommend for the plasterboard and to attach the skirting board back to the brickwork?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I personally would take the lot off and either float and set it (if it is brick or block work) or if the wall has no damp and painted then unibond it with a strong mix leave it for 24 hours then another strong coat of unibond then either bond it out and skim or just skim it...Or you could dot and dab it properly.(There is probably a reason why it was dot and dabbed) . I would not try to "refix" a dot and dabbed wall that had "pulled " away.....

Thanks for your reply :)

It is only really moving at the bottom. It would be a huge amount of work to re dot and dab as the coving would have to come down with it. Would it not be possible to put in some plasterboard adhesive or foam just to hold it at the bottom?

Maybe as a "Quick" fix you could cut the board about 2" up from the floor and mix your self up some P/board adhesive and keep trowelling it in the 2" gap and then get something heavy against the wall to push it in, then when it has gone off stick your skirtin' on with "Sticks like s##t" adhesive. I would not do this myself and I haven't told you to do it .... Ok.....
