What glue for sticking led lights on canvas art?

Hi
I am trying sticking led fairy lights to light up canvas art.
I have tried with two sided adhesive sticky tape but it keeps coming off the canvas.

Does any one know what kind of a glue could be used to hold these bulbs and wires in place?

Have you tried silicon glue?
