Hi, i'm not a RGI but I was aware of a site - www.gas-leak.co.uk - which had been set up by the GMB union for British Gas employees to discuss their increasing workload and management pressures. I have a vague interest as I subbie a RGI (non BG) for bits and pieces of domestic work. Also i'm aware that a huge amount of people have BG Homecare and have had varying levels of service. The last I read the guys on the board were pretty upset that the union had called off the strike but now it seems the whole forum has been taken down!

Do any of you know if there is somewhere else this issue is being discussed, or have an opinion on the matter?

I was enjoying the corporate management-bashing until the site disappeared!

probably a condition of calling off the strike to remove it from the web. go to the homepage and there is a hastily added note to explain.

This is the note on the homepage:

"Dear Colleagues

Thank you for all those who have participated in gas-leak.co.uk. The site was part of the campaign we launched. The national shop stewards have unanimously agreed that we have made progress which allows us to get back into meaningful talks with the company about building a better future for our members.

The Forum has been a very useful tool. Our plan is to restart the forum. It will probably be accessed through the main GMB website. This seems to be the appropriate place to host a forum given that there is a cessation of hostilities to give both parties the time to build relations.

We will get a forum established as soon as possible after the easter break."

The last messages I read last night were shop stewards noting their disapproval with the top ranks of the union backing down, criticism of the union etc. It probably was a condition that the forum had to go but the whole thing stinks, it's as though the union are in collusion with the management. The very much doubt the regular posters to that site would agree with the statements that the "shops stewards have unanimously agreed' or that "there is a cessation of hostilities".

I was just wondering what those on here thought about it, BG RGI's, do you think you have been 'sold down the river' or do you really think there will be meaningful improvements to your working practices?

it's as though the union are in collusion with the management.

no sh1t sherlock :D Been like that for as long as I can remember. Union representatives represent themselves not employees. Tbh that goes for most Unions in my experience.

Fek the union has frightened mamagement that much they will have booked 5 star instead of 4 for talks with all the perks that come with it....just before both sh#t on workforce
