What have you bought today?

I don’t think 50+ mpg is that bad for something that size. Yep, £195 tax plus an extra £425 spite tax for the next 5 years. However, I did negotiate a £6.5k discount off of the retail price so that will more than cover it. Both Mrs Mottie and I love the car - it’s better equipped than the top of the range RR Evoque we had. We can get over 60mpg from our TDI Golf but I know what I’d rather be driving - it’s not always about doing things as cheap as possible you know. ;)

No idea what mpg I got but last month we went to Herts and rather than the Discovery we took the camper (vivaro 2l diesel) to give it a run, we were amazed how much less fuel we used, and that bad boy has a lot of weight in the back.

A years membership to the RHS
A years membership to the Historic Royal Palaces.

We're going to the Tower on Friday and it was only another 30 quid on top of the price of a single entry for the pair of us for a whole years entry for two to the Tower and other palaces so it made sense to go for that.

Motorola G35. Just for foreign trips using a Czech pay as you go sim - still keeping the Nokia 6100 for use in UK. The Motorola is way too big and complex for normal daily use - more like a small tablet than a phone. However it will come in handy when abroad so won't need to drag the laptop with me.Just have to work out how to set up and use the damn thing now. Things like finding and installing apps and making sure it only uses wifi when in range, not data, are a priority - but all a mystery to me. Hours of fun ahead.

Jeez! Millions of features - only a fraction of which I'll use. The Google calendar looks like it needs a computer programmer to understand it. Unlike the incredibly simple one one the Nokia. This thing wants to sync things, share things with other people, link to emails and any number of confusing functions. Can't seem to find my Hotmail emails either. On the initial set up I had to put in my GMail address and Hotmail address. Gmail I can find because there's lots of Google stuff on the phone, but don't know where Hotmail is hiding. Suppose I'll get my head around it one day.

A 40x30x20 carry on underseat luggage bag for my fly-ride off-roading trip to Spain in November. I'm not paying a penny more than I have to for this flight. I only need to take pants, socks, T-Shirts, shorts, trainers and trunks (and maybe my drone) as the bike and all the gear (Boots, leathers, helmet and gloves) is supplied.

Another tree for the rockeree.
Damned near broke my ass revamping the whole plot this autumn but it'll be worth it come next spring.
No pain, no gain, as they say.

Boxers for my holiday made from Bamboo. Ready for my hols 15 pairs for £180. Bargain

Just over a weeks temporary insurance for the new runaround and a years road tax for the same car. £45.85. Well happy with that.

A years fully comp insurance for Lester the Fiesta for Mrs Mottie with me as a named driver. £255. So in all, a years tax and fully comp insurance for less than three hundred quid. Cheap motoring.

Not today, but finally got the ebay refund on them today - razor blades. A Gillette blade buying nightmare, as so many are fakes, and their price is not representative of them being genuine. Gillette, have a list of things to identify, if your pack of blades are genuine, before you use one. These, in the description said Genuine.

On delivery, I made all the checks, using a lens, which they passed - then finally tried to use the first one, replacing the genuine blade I'd been using for a month, and found it was like dragging a plough over my skin. Swapped the blade back to the month old, and even that was better. I then complained to the seller, that they were fakes, I was offered a 50% refund, for blades which were useless, and so moved it to an ebay complaint, and got a full refund.

Paid off the HP for the Tucson. I got a £2k 'deposit contribution' from Hyundai for taking out a £4K loan toward the purchase of our Tucson. Just made one payment then paid it off and ended up paying just £54 in interest. Not a bad price to pay for saving £2k. :giggle:

Paid the final balance on an off-road motorcycling trip to Spain in November that I’m going on with 5 mates. Oh, bought a single trip insurance with hazardous coverage too in case I break my back and have to be flown home……

How are you finding consumption with the Tucson?

Mrs S is tempted by a hybrid, I'm trying to keep her steered towards an EV.

We're in our last year on this one.

Want an SUV next time, a bit higher up, easier to get into and a much bigger boot.

Via Aliexpress, I ordered a couple of fairly expensive batteries, a couple of weeks ago. We've been away from home the past five days, no notification from Ali, that they had left China, arrived in the UK, or being collected by any courier, just a 'delivered' one. Just a tiny parcel, it would almost, but not quite, fit through the letter-box.

Back home, I spotted the 'delivered' notification, for the same day we left home, checked the location, out of sight, where we usually expect such things - nothing. Checked the front garden, nowt, then spotted it on the front door step. It's sat there 5 days, just lucky that no one had helped their selves to it and delivered by EVRI.

The parcel before that, again delivered by EVRI, quite a large, delicate, expensive one, easily damaged by the rain, was just thrown on the front garden. Had sat there most of the day, and was sodden. This, despite filling in the form to tell them a dry, safe place to leave it.

What sort of numpties do EVRI employ?

Just seen this. Fuel consumption is not too bad - better when Mrs Mottie drives it compared to me but I do like the sports mode. I think she gets just over 50mpg on a longish run. Will probably do less mpg in the winter as the engine kicks in more often to run the heater. I do like all the bells and whistles it comes with - especially the heads up display. Mind you, the forward collision avoidance has come in very fiercely a few times when I’ve been driving like a tw@t although Mrs Mottie hasn’t experienced it yet. The hybrid system is brilliant and the display shows you all that is happening. We have the Ultimate trim model. Nice and high seating position, heated and cooled seats, easy to get in and out (Mrs Mottie commented on how easy it was for her 86 year old mum to get in and out) and the boot is bloody massive! We both agree it is better equipped than the Range Rover Evoque we had and it is so easy and a pleasure to drive.

With my birthday coming up, Mrs Mottie is pestering me to let her know what I’d like for a present. There was nothing that I could think of but I’ve just seen something on a TV advert and I’ve plumped for that. A pillow! Not just any old pillow, a top o' the range Simba CustomFlex pillow. I can’t wait!
