What have you bought today?

I took on the duty of the weekly shop during covid and I've stuck at it. I always reach to the back of the shelf for the freshest goods with the longest dates. I even lift boxes out and take packaged veg from the bottom tray for the same reason. Plenty of others do the same. We leave the short dates for the lazy gits that have theirs delivered…
For sure I was where you are, though I've always done the shopping being the only driver, I have reclaimed about 3 hours of my Saturday morning back though as the Sainsbury's I liked was 20odd mins away. Chicken is the usual culprit, interestingly if you watch people shop in store it's surprising how many people clearly don't pay any attention to the dates, it's mystifying.

Exactly as we do, why pay good money, for something not fresh?

We don't do weekly shops, or shop on any particular day(s), we do a shop, when something is running low. The supermarkets, all together, just a short 10 minute walk away. Av walks, I take the scooter, load the shopping up, and bring it home.

Lidl Thursday, Sainsbury Friday for me.

A set of plastic wheel trims that look like (don't look like) alloy wheels for the camper van.

Edit: and two door windows fitted the other day.

New toy, but broken toy. Cambelt failed so needs a new engine.

My friend’s mum had one of these when we were teenagers, and I’ve always wanted one ever since.

I’ve also been looking for a race car, which this is, as my TVR racer project keeps stalling.

So this ticks a couple of boxes :)

Only had a new belt in late '24. No guarantee?

No I don’t think so as I believe it was the owner at the time that did the spannering.

The car was actually auctioned a few months back as running and driving, I didn’t win the auction. Guy who bought it has suffered this failure and is now taking a financial hit to get rid.

Obviously I’m taking a bit of a gamble too, but a replacement engine is £1.5k plus fitting as a worst case scenario…although this engine is pretty modified, so I’m hoping it might be salvageable.
