Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of plaster this is? Ive been assuming it was some form of Artex and I have some X-tex on it now but im not sure how effective its going to be on something like this.

We've just moved house and this wall is in the conservatory. Its the outer wall of the house and its looks like they've plastered straight onto the brick (no plasterboards)

Ive been looking all over the internet and I cant find anything even close to this. Have any of you had to deal with anything like this and do you know how I would go about removing it? I'm looking to strip it down to the wall and re-plaster it.

Thanks.

Did you make the 3 small marks on the wall in picture two?. To me, it looks as though someone in the past has just put random small dabs and patches of finishing plaster on the wall just as a 'random plaster decoration", maybe just to take away the plainness of the wall. If it is just "bumps" of plaster, it should be easy enough to chip away the thickness. A plasterer would be able to prep that wall ready for plastering no problem. Best way forward would be to get a reputable local plasterer in to let him see the job, do a little investigation and take it from there. It looks a pretty straightforward job.

Thanks for the response. The x-tex didnt work. Think we're going to try using an air chisel, take it down to the brick and start from stratch. I considered just plastering over it but this stuff sticks out about an inch in places.

Edit: I made the marks in picture two to see how easy it came away.
