Hi,
I've come across this white mouldy-looking substance in the loft of a friend

. Anyone know what it might be and whether it's something to worry about?
 
How old's the house...might be hydrated lime (added to cement mortars as a plasticiser) from the days when everything was just dumped on site by lorry.
Got the same in our 1950s place...just on odd timbers.
