What is this pipe?

Hi all,

I have an inaccessible loft above my bathroom that is visible from the main loft, and in it there is an old pipe. I am not sure if it is water, overflow, gas, or even electrical conduit.

It does have lagging but I wondered if that is just there so that it doesn't sit directly on the joists.

I can't see where it comes from or where it goes.

The reason I am curious is because I saw two water spots on the ceiling and wondered if it is condensation from that pipe or perhaps a leak, if it is even connected to anything.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

It's also partially lagged with felt still so I'm going to say old school water pipe to header tank in loft... if the loft was warm there would be a bit of condensation on the pipe where the lagging is missing leading to another guess that the pipe is no longer live?

Edit and the crustiness of the galvanising suggest that it's been covered in condensation in the past, but rereading your first post it sounds like you've possibly got a cold damp spot on the loft side of the ceiling and will probably have to cut the affected part down to see if it is the pipe or possibly a hole in the roof/roof felt?

Don't you know what is on the other side of the wall to be able to tell where the pipe goes to :?:
