Hi,
I’ve turned my heating on for the first time in about six months and there is a drip coming the big black thing in the photo. Can anyone tell me what it is?

It's a filter.
The one that's made of brittle plastic so after it's heated and cooled over a few months or years it leaks just like yours is doing.

Magnetic filter you should have a large plastic spanner that fits the top cap
May require new O ring your filter is a magnaclean spares readily available. Black knobs are inlet/ outlet valves turn 90 degrees to close.

If it’s definitely that then yes the magnetic filter, Adey branded too. Just check that nothing is dripping onto it from above.
