I am looking to buy a 27" monitor to use with my Acer lap top.
I want to be able to put two a4 full size pages on screen at the same time.
Will I get good character definition with a larger sized screen and will it work with a 4 year old Acer lap top.
Also can anyone recommend a good mid priced monitor around the £200.00 mark.
Thanks in anticipation :D

27" for £200 ?

Not a chance.

Mine is a Samsung 26" and has a resolution of 1920 x 1200.

The problem you will find is that most monitors these days are in fact only outputting a resolution 1920 x1080

ie: HD Tv resolution.

27" should give you at least 2560 x1440

eg: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-003-AP&groupid=17&catid=1120

1920 x 1080 would start to strain your eyes, albeit usuable.

I'm going to do a test if I can put two A4's next to each other on my 26" monitor... I'll post a screeny..

I'm assuming you will be using something like office ?

Many thanks for that information. I will look around the market place for a decent 26" monitor with a higher resolution and I presume a much higher price.

Thank you both for the information. I now have a greater understanding of what I actually require. If I had not asked you the question I would have just blown £200.00 on a pretty much useless monitor. :?
