What rating gas strut for loft hatch?

Never seen one . Hatch is lowered using a pole .

Which is how my access works, pole to release hatch, then pole again to hook ladder down - ladder is fixed to brackets on loft floor.

The OP's sounds like ones I have come across before, where the ladder is mounted on the hatch itself, usually the hatch is much longer, than the basic square one. Those make the hatch quite heavy to handle.

Mine is a Fakro with attached ladders, but the weight is borne by springs for the first 20° or so. No dampers as such. Dampers are possibly over-engineering this.

WTF. My loft ladder has some springs in the mechanism that allows you to raise it or lower it with gentle effort.
