Hi All,

I'm trying to remove paint from wall tiles and currently using a heat gun and a stanley type blade scraper which although does the job is very slow. Is there a better scraper I should be using in conjunction with the heat gun? I then plan on using Panther paint remover on the intricate bits of the tile (rope edge) and grout.

Thanks
Daz

You probably need a 3" paint scraper. One with a rigid blade, not flexible which are for filling.

Original tile will be heavily scratched by scraping it off , paint stripper is required for an undamaged finish .

Perhaps you’re not heating enough; the tile can take far more abuse than the paint can, so if you’re not heating til the paint is blistering and burning, give it a go (on an inconspicuous area first). By the time you see blisters the paint has delaminated, but you need to be aware that unlike some painted substrates (wood), tile wil absorb a lot more heat so getting the paint hot enough will take longer

Don’t worry about being kind to the grout; highly likely it will be manky in places and wanting replacing anyway

So, the heat gun and Toughbuilt utility scraper works a treat. It takes a long time and you're right about needing to heat the tile up a lot as it acts like a heat sink for the paint. I've just got some wire brushes from Amazon and plan on soaking the grout in Panther tomorrow and scraping it off using the wire brushes.
