What should this person do?

Here in Derby, the new MP for Derby North is Chris Williamson (Lab). He also stood in the local council elections and was returned as a councillor for his area. He has stated that he will carry on doing both jobs.
Being that Gordy Brown has already stated that MP's will be stopped from having two jobs, he seems to be at odds with his own party. Should he resign at least one of the positions?
I'm just concerned that he will claim travelling expenses (off the council), from London to Derby when he returns to attend council meetings, then will also claim expenses (from Parliament) to travel back to London for his parliamentary duties.
What do people on here think??

Who cares? it's only Derby after all.

seems like you got a labour left wing looney who still hasnt got the message about fiddling the system.

Being an MP is a full time job, how can he possibly do justice to either job when he can only spend half his time doing each, especially when he paid on the basis he spends ALL his time doing ONE. He just robbing the taxpayer.

How can being an MP be a full time job when some of them also get appointed as ministers. How the hell can the Chancellor or Prime minister or Home secretary find time to represent the electorate in their constituancy and do the ministerial business as well.
If they can, then that means that the rest of the MPs are part timers, and should be paid as such.

...in that case they will claim that the money they earn is FOR the part time hours and if they work anything above that they should get paid more. ;)

MPs don't really get paid that much, so no worries here.
