Hello,
Just finishing building a lean to roof.
I need to fit barge boards to the end rafters which are 200 x 50 timber.
The 10mm thick capping PVC boards come in 200mm and 225 mm widths, but with the 10mm soffit board fitted the 200mm will leave a gap.
The 225 would need trimming down.
Seems strange they don't make them 220mm wide, or am I missing something.
Thanks for your help

you should be using 18mm 9mm is cladding to cover old timber
225 is the outside inside will be around 215 [206 on 18mm]in side the "L" at the back that hooks over the sofits

Thanks big All,
I'll pop down to the merchants with my tape measure.
If you were just capping with 10 mm cladding how would you do it?
Cheers

Why did you not use a smaller depth end rafter?

We always consider the barge boards when constructing our ladder sets, for this very reason.

225mm sounds massive!

You need to install a wooden barge before overcladding with upvc.

Either that get the 18 or 22mm stuff.

If you get 225 it could be 235 overall (ours is) also if it is a lean to the surely you are putting dry verges on, it's easy to cut down anyway if you have to but get the full replacement fascia. They go up in 25mm stages otherwise it would be impossible to keep stock

Yes, I've not built a lean to roof before, so didn't think to do the ladders in a different size timber.
I was looking at the cladding in wickes tonight, theirs is 9mm
I'm now thinking 225mm and the return fits into a thin joining strip (some are ventilated) with 9mm board across to the wall.
Obviously I won't buy it from wickes
I can't believe I can't find some simple drawing of this online somewhere.
How would the experts do it. Or would you re do the ladders?
Like everything, now I've done it, I now know how it should have been done.
Cheers
Very windy

the soffit on the apex's doesnt have to sit flush with the bottom of the fascia either just fix it to the ladder frame
