This isn't really a serious post, but thought it would amuse....

We are really busy at the moment, flat out. People wanting things done are having to wait.

Got a call from a builder doing an extension. He has taken some out houses down and needs to build the new extension - the new wall is right where an outside switch is, and he begged me to go over to him to remove it.

Reluctantly packed up and left the job I was on and drove almost an hours drive to site.

See pics.....

Could of swung for him! lol.

Blimey a builder would wouldn't 'have a go' at the electrics - I say you can't charge him anything as he's a rare find!

No seriously, charge him for the time you spent on the job incl travel - that's fair

Surely he could have laid his hands on a brick or a rock or a lump of rubble he could have used to smash it off the wall?

Just had the same sort of thing on a Job I was doing , Lady asked can you look at the 2nd Flourescent Light in the Garage it`s never worked while we have lived here , we have changed the Tube and the Starter but still doesnt work , Ladders out of the Van , into the Garage , quick check ..... no freekin Cable to the Fitting !! and it was an open spar Garage (ie no Ceiling) ........... Called her in " Hmmm No wonder it did`nt work"

Customers eh ..... who`d have em !!!

Obviously she hadn't spent much time looking at the garage ceiling. :P

It might surprise you but a high proportion of the public do not realise that cables (and pipes) have to be connected to things to make them work.

On the other hand your customer might realise things about accounting/ rocket science/ horses/ steam trains/ flower arranging/ embroidery/ pastry making or zeppelin building that you would never have dreamed of!

He did truley think or assume it was connected to something I guess - Don't think he is daft enough to think otherwise!

There was actually a flood light much higher up the wall above this switch, but this was operated from inside. I think he thought it was to do with that.

Some other electrician had been in previously and stripped the electrics out of the demolished buildings, I guess he just left this on the wall!

With any luck we will be doing the work to the extension, so may wait before firing off an invoice.

And thank god they do because when that wireless electricity comes in we are all f****d :D
