What type of connector block is this?

Initially thought it would need a male bullet but I bought the smallest one available (red 4mm) and it was way too big for the hole at the top.

Maybe it needs a female connector? Each one is about 6mm wide.

It's on an indicator stalk of an old VW camper

You are holding a male bullet block connector, 6mm.......you need the female to match it. Nothing is meant to fit in the middle hole.

It certainly should be! You can always crimp it up a bit if its slack as it doesn't look like the original VW part - unless its a Brazilian made camper with the Polo engine in the back.
Always solder the connections for reliability, if you can.

Cheers, it's not a stock VW part. Believe it's a stand from an old Land Rover.
