Hi,

Can someone please advise what type of sealant I should use to seal an exterior window and door frame, acrlyic or silicone.

Can someone recommend a decent not too expensive brand please as there seems to be quite a few on the market.

Many thanks.

I would not advise silicone.

It makes repainting a nightmare.

On some jobs I have spent more time removing all traces of silicone than I spent painting the windows.

There are some very good MS (Modified silane) polymers out there. They are flexible like silicones but you can paint over them and in many cases they offer better adhesion and are more tolerant of surface moisture.

I primarily use CT1 (about a tenner per tube) but there are other brands, some of which are cheaper.

The following is the cheapest that I have ever seen, no idea if it is any good though.
