What would cause an electric shower to trip? It has happened two or three times in six months

Several things, a failed heating element, loose connections water ingress onto internal electrics.

Whay is an mcb, an rcbo and an rccb all I know is it is a redring glow shower that has tripped a few times in six months

Miniature circuit breaker (Mcb)
Residual current circuit breaker (rccb)
Residual current breaker over-current (rcbo)

All found at the consumer unit (fuse board/box) - maybe post a photo of this indicating which has tripped.

The shower has its own trip
Yes.

But by 'trip', do you mean MCB, RCBO, or RCCB?

If you tell us everything printed on the 'trip', and also the kW or W of the shower itself, we can try to diagnose what's happening more speedily.

Yes, but is it an MCB, RCBO or RCD? If you don't know post a picture
