What's a comp vent?

Recently had boiler serviced by BG (in my absence) and was left a note to say not to current standard - comp vent under size....hence my question.

Thanks for that and sorry for the delay in my response. Yes its in a cupboard - with louvred doors
 
If it's open flued, What kw gross heat input is it, devide by 1.1 multiply by 20, that is size (cmsq) of bottom vent to a room, half that for top vent. no fly screen, holes must admit a 5mm ball.

then room it's in must be vented top outside 5cmsq/kw after deducting 7 kw from the figure above.

There's a starting point.

We have this when our boiler is serviced each year. Each engineer says vent not to current standards but when I ask if I should do anything about it say they wouldn't bother. Say still perfectly safe, I always find it confusing that they tell me but then advise doing nothing about it.
