Hi,
We are in a 2 storey victorian property and i have taken down the ceiling in the 1st floor bedroom, the old latt and plaster. I want to know whats best insulation as in the ceiling there are the plastic water pipes and soil pipe from the ensuite in the room above. If i use the normal loft insulation inbetween the joists and around the pipes and then plaster board will this reduce the noise from the pipes.

In this situation normal loft insulation is :

1) The most suitable and easiest to install
2) Also the cheapest
3) Also the best for damping noise

By the way, it sounds like you have a house on three floors, not two.

Thanks very much and yes realised my error after posting but could not be bothered to chnage as i new you guys would know what i meant,

If you lag the piping with insulation this will help reduce noise. then fill the voids with soft loft insulation.
