What's this plant pls?

We inherited a few shrubs at the front of the garden from the previous homeowners. They look dead throughout the winter but have recently started producing some quite nice red and yellow foliage (or flowers?). Does anyone know the name of the plants please? So we can better look after them. Thanks!

Thanks Mottie! I looked it up and the pictures seem to show much bigger flowers. Probably ours are just foliage at this stage?

Looks like Berberis to me ,cultuvar thunbergii ...the red one that is ,has dark yellow/orangy flowers later in spring

Maybe not now! I thought it looked like broom just starting to flower.

Thanks both! They look like some of the Berberis varieties indeed. And seem to be pretty low maintenance. Guess we'll just need to wait and see how they develop into the spring and summer.

Zooming into to the pics does show some evil looking thorns....which certainly points to berberis.

The orange flowering variety is lovely....I used to have one

Nice observation! I walked past them so many times but didn't even notice they have thorns lol...

Thanks! I used some of them before but found the results not very accurate... hopefully they'll get better over time
