Who said anything about paste & tape

Gas tape is now normally used on iron pipework instead of Hemp & paste ( don`t ask) some gas fitters use it on copper fittings as well as gas paste, to be really sure.

I read this as "some gas fitters use gas tape on copper fittings as well as gas paste".

Anyway, I've used all plastic pipe from Homebase stuck together with sellotape to install my next door neighbour's boiler.
